Storm Prep That Kept The Lights On
The morning of Hurricane Irma's approach, our crew got a panicked call from a Tradewinds homeowner. Their 1940s Mediterranean Revival house had no backup power, and we could already hear palm fronds slapping against the windows. With floodwaters rising in Lake Ida, they faced losing both their vintage electrical system and a freezer full of insulin.
We trucked in a 20kW diesel unit on a lifted trailer through standing water, anchoring it to their paver driveway with hurricane straps. Within two hours, we'd bypassed their old fuse box with a temporary panel. When the eye wall hit, their security lights stayed on while half the neighborhood went dark.
Raj's team worked like they owned our house too.
